Proper care will extend the life of your wig. How often you wash your wig depends on how often you wear it. The general rule of thumb is every six to eight wearings, or about once a week.
Follow these easy steps for cleaning and conditioning your human hair wig or synthetic wig:
To Clean Your Wig •
Fill your sink with cool water and work in wig shampoo into the wig with your fingers. You should use wig shampoos.
• Swirl gently without rubbing or wringing.
• Rinse thoroughly in cool water and turn right side out again.
While your Wig is Still Wet
• Do not rub, wring, twist, brush or comb.
• Place on wig stand or a tall wig stand for longer wigs.
• Spritz with a leave-in wig conditoning spray.
• Allow to air dry at room temperature. Remember, never use a blow dryer to dry a synthetic wig. It will melt. Sudden bursts of heat from a hair dyer, opening an oven door or getting close to an open flame or gas burner will melt the synthetc fibers.
When Dry
• Hold dry wig upside down and shake to get fullness of the wig back
• Place wig on your head or wig stand and brush or finger-style into your desired look. Never brush a curly synthetic wig; finger-style it or use a pick comb. When brushing a human hair style, start at the ends and gently work your way to the root.
Maintenance and Wig Care Instructions:
Tip One:
To keep your wig looking fresher for longer, you need to make sure that you use the correct wig care products based on the type of wig you wear; ensuring you buy the relevant products for synthetic and human hair wigs.
Tip Two:
There's no better way to refresh your wig than by giving it a was with your special wig shampoo and conditioner. However, an important hair care tip for wigs is to use the correct method of washing your wig to ensure that no damage occurs during the process.
Tip Three:
The idea of taking some scissors to your wig may make you feel uneasy, but just in the same way that you wouldn't cut your own hair unless you're confident in your hairdressing ability, you wouldn't cut your wig unless you felt comfortable with the scissors. If you want to add a fringe, layers or give it a tidy up, then take your wig to your local hairdresser to reshape your wig in a way that's more suited to your own personal style.
How to Store Wigs
Putting a wig into storage can be like changing your wardrobe each season; you may wish to store your summer wigs in the winter months and vice versa! Storing wigs carefully not only helps to increase the lifespan of your wig but also allows for your wigs to stay in the best condition possible so that you can look and feel great.
* You can put the wig on a wig head or a wig stand. We suggest you buy a wig stand together when you purchase a wig.
* You can put the wig in a wig storage if you will not use in in a long time. It is also the best storing way when you are travelling. So we also suggest you buy a wig storage together.
* You might have a shelf spare in your airing cupboard or a drawer free in your bathroom, but don't be tempted to store your wig in areas that are prone to humidity. To keep your wig in the best possible condition, store it somewhere dark and aware from possible moisture.
